3 Ways to Bring Dry Hair Back to Life for Spring

For many people, winter is hard on their hair. Whether you’ve been adding extra goop to it for holding power in the winter wind or you’re blow-drying it hotter than usual because you don’t want to go outside in 10oF weather with a wet head, hair is often at its worst this time of year.

So here are some handy tips to bring your dry hair back to life for spring.

  1. Cut it. Your biggest problems are likely at the ends of your hair, that part of your hair which is the oldest. And while there are products that can be used to tame it, if you have terrible split ends from abuse, the simplest solution is to cut them off and start with the less damaged hair further up the shaft.
  2. Wash it less often. Shampoo removes dirt from your hair and scalp. However, shampoo also removes the oil your scalp naturally produces to protect your hair. So, if you can maybe skip one or two days between washings you’re doing your hair a world of good. Also, use good quality hair products like ours. Lesser quality shampoos can really damage hair, especially hair that is already dry as a bone.
  3. Deep condition your hair. There are tons of good products out there, including ours, and there are also plenty of home remedies to try like mayonnaise, pumpkin, yogurt, coconut oil, and avocado. Try some and see what works best for you. If your scalp tends to be oily, and the rest of your hair is dry, cut some slits in a shower cap, and put the conditioner only on the hair that comes out of the cap but not on your scalp. Or make a loose ponytail, and put the conditioner on the hair past the elastic. Any conditioner that you use will be better than using no conditioner at all. You may want to deep-condition your hair two to three times per week if the hair is really dry and damaged.

None of the suggestions above would interfere with any ongoing treatment for hair loss unless you have just had hair replacement surgery. These suggestions are non-invasive and easy to add to your routine. So, get rid of the winter frizz and start your spring with a whole new look.
