Laser & LED Light Hair Therapy

Have you ever wondered what exactly is the difference between laser and LED light therapy? There are many differences; let’s take a look at them.

Coherent and Incoherent Light

The major difference between LED and laser light is that laser light is “coherent” and LED light is “incoherent.” This means that laser light photons are in parallel. The light waves have the same frequency and the same phase.

In contrast, LED light is what’s called “incoherent.” This means that the light photons and waves do not have the same frequency or the same phase. In other words, LED light spreads out and lots of energy gets wasted. LED light cannot be concentrated or pulsed like lasers can, so it’s impossible to focus the light on specific areas.

Similarly, since LED light cannot be focused like laser light, LED does not penetrate the skin to the extent that laser light does.

Proof

Low-level laser light therapy has a long history. The laser has been thoroughly tested for many years and known to work well.

While LED therapy definitely has some medical benefits, there is not a long history of research supporting its use for treatment of hair loss. So using a product with LED lights is a gamble.

If you are asking yourself the question about laser versus LED because you are comparing our product to other products on the market, the Capillus laser cap is superior for several reasons.

  1. It is FDA cleared.
  2. It has more lasers per unit area than any of the other products on the market, so there’s a much better cost per diode ratio.
  3. Our laser cap was designed with your comfort in mind. The cap looks and feels “normal” and you can proudly wear it anywhere.
  4. Our laser cap has a slim rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

For treatment of hair loss with light therapy, LLLT is definitely the best solution.
