Coping With Hair Loss During the Holidays

The holiday season is upon us. For many people, this is the time of year when you get together—often in close quarters—with friends and family, some of whom you may not have seen for quite while. Know that you are not alone; roughly 80 million men and women in the US have some hair loss with men somewhat outnumbering women.

If you’re suffering from hair loss, and feeling self-conscious, here are some tips to get you through the holidays.

Camouflage:

If you haven’t started treatment yet for your hair loss, or maybe you’re in the middle of treatment, why not try some camouflage. Keratin fibers are very effective are hiding mild, diffuse hair loss. Through static electricity, these fibers, made of keratin protein, quickly blend with your existing hair to make hair look fuller. And the fibers come in all different hair colors to suit everyone.

Wear a hat:

Hats are in fashion, for men and for women, in bold colors and striking patterns and fabrics. Try wearing a hat. No one will notice your hair loss—they will be concentrating on how fashionable you are this year.

Alleviate stress:

The holidays are a stressful time for many, and we know that stress contributes to hair loss. So, take some time and concentrate on relieving some stress. Simple things to reduce stress in your life include getting some exercise—even if it’s just going for a walk, eating well (we mean getting enough protein and trace minerals not overloading on turkey and stuffing), adding a few minutes of mindfulness meditation every day, and getting enough sleep. By reducing your stress, everything about you will look and feel better.

Start hair loss treatment:

There are treatments for hair loss that actually work and are supported by science, like the laser caps. These caps use Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), which is completely painless, to promote new and thicker hair growth. All treatments for hair loss are more effective when you first start to lose your hair, so make up your mind to do something about your hair loss. Then you can feel a sense of relief and anticipation as you stop the loss and start growing new hair for the new year.
